Italian Villa Restaurant
History: The Italian Villa Restaurant was built in the late 1700's as a private home by Revolutionary War Veteran Levi Ellis. The Ellis family expanded on the mansion in 1811, who then sold it to Gilbert Drew in the mid 1800's. Drew expanded on the home once more by adding the second story and renaming it Maple Glen Farm. The house was purchased again in 1920 by Harry Vail, and it remained in the Vail family for the next sixty years. Famous gunsmith Roy Vail lived there with his family, and worked on crafting his guns in a barn across the street (which no longer exists). Strife seemed to follow the Vail family and they suffered through emotional troubles. In 1972 Roy Vail's sister was found murdered in nearby Warwick Township. There appeared to be no motive for her killing at the time and no suspects were apprehended, although rumors abounded that Roy Vail himself was somehow involved. In the early 1980's Roy Vail committed suicide with a shotgun in what would later become one of the restaurant's main dining rooms. After Roy's death the house sold and became another restaurant that did not do well and eventually closed. It was then purchased by the current owners who have turned it into a successful business.
Paranormal Activity Reported: The current owners have reported activity in the home since the first moment that they moved in and began construction on the restaurant. Footsteps could be heard when no one else was around, both upstairs and in the restaurant, and doors will open and close on their own. A door to an entertainment cabinet in the bar area repeatedly opens and closes on its own. While spending the night in one of the upstairs bedrooms, one employee witnessed a misty shape appear in the center of the room and move out the door. A priest brought in the bless the house experienced body shakes while in the wine cellar. During a bad winter snowstorm several employees looking out one of the upstairs bedroom windows saw the two old oak trees in front of the house had fallen over, but in the morning they were astonished to find the trees still standing. The owner witnessed a metal rack spin wildly in a coat closet of its own accord, and objects will vanish only to reappear at a later date. The restaurant's security system went off on it's own, yet the security company that monitors the system never received the call.
Investigation Summation: Before the investigation began investigator Gretchen M. witnessed an apparition of what appeared to be a young girl staring down at her from an attic window. We later learned that supposedly a young girl who suffered from some form of illness once lived in that room. Later in the evening Gretchen also began to pick up on the impressions of a young child or stillborn baby in an upstairs bedroom. Unaware of Gretchen's vision of the girl in the attic, Investigators Chuck H. and Raul M. and TSPR Investigator Kerri M. also picked up the impression of a young girl in the attic bedroom. Chuck also captured an EVP of a man's voice saying, "Get out!" on digital video (see below). Lead NJPR Investigator Mark J. also captured another EVP of a man's voice down in the back basement area saying "Don't". In an upstairs bedroom Investigator Raul M. experienced an overwhelming feeling of sadness and the impression of a young female spirit begging him not to leave.
