Lewis Hillside Villa - Circa 1920

Savannah's Restaurant - 2007

History: Savannah's Restaurant is a charming establishment that has a long history in Sussex County.  The oldest sections of the building date back to 1856 where there were a series of buildings that contained a post office, general store, an inn and a stage coach stop.  The remnants of most of these old buildings still exist down in the basement.  In the 1920's these buildings were purchased by the Lewis family and used as the foundation for a single larger inn.  A pool was added and several rooms were rented out to vacationers while others were used by the staff.  Eventually the inn was purchased by the Jorgensen family who ran a successful restaurant out of the building for many years.  The restaurant was then passed on to the Amoratis family who opened it as Victoria's Mountain Inn for a couple of years.  Finally in 2006 the business sold once more to local entrepreneur Susan Gregory who restored the old building and re-opened its doors as Savannah's Restaurant.

Paranormal Activity Reported:  There have been numerous stories of paranormal activity over the years.  A male ghost that the staff affectionately refers to as "George" has been thought to move some objects.  The spirit of a young child in period clothing has also been seen in the bar area.  Wait staff have recently seen a male figure in period clothing walk through the back dining area and vanish.

Investigation Summation:  There were a few remaining customers in the bar area when we began our investigation.  Curiously enough we did not encounter hardly any activity during this time.  It was only after the customers had left that we began to experience some paranormal activity.  At one point in the large basement two investigators heard what sounded like a moan coming from the very back of the basement area when no one else was down there with them.  Later in the evening several bright orbs were captured on video in the back of the dining area where one investigator felt a heavy presence.

Recorded on digital video in the basement, a faint moan can be heard emanating from the back of the basement. Here is an edited and filtered version of the moan.  We have confirmed that no one else in the building at the time made a noise similar to this. - 12:40 AM - Mark J.

- An unusual, bulbous anomaly moves across a hallway in the basement.  Based on its properties and movement, this has been determined not to be dust or a light reflections. - Mark J.
- The same clip slowed down for clarity.  The anomaly appears to move across the hallway with purpose. - Mark J.
- Mark takes a moment during the investigation to impersonate the "Most Haunted" nostril cam. - Mark J.
- An insect is captured down in the basement.  This is an excellent example of a false-positive. - Mark J.
