History

This was a follow-up to our two prior investigations in 2005 and 2006 of a local restaurant that was once the home of famous gunsmith Roy Vail who committed suicide in the house, and who was suspected in the death of his sister in 1974. The owners had asked us to come back as they have continued to experience strange and unexplained activity.

Investigation Notes

This investigation was relatively quiet accept for the attic which appeared to be active with paranormal activity. One investigator was scratched, and others felt a heavy presence in the room. At one point the owner felt compelled to go up to the attic just as one team was experiencing activity up there. While there he also felt a heavy presence that caused his body to physically tremble even though he was not scared or cold.

Photographic Evidence

Jennifer felt pain on her back while investigating the attic, and a quick inspection revealed three distinct scratches down her back. The scratches are small and appear to be made by a child's hand. A solid orb hovers above Karrie-Ann's head in one of the upstairs bedroom.

Note: Most researchers do not consider orb photos evidence of paranormal activity. Airborne particles such as dust, pollen and moisture can cause "false positives".  While we agree that most "orbs" can be explained naturally, we have found in our research that a small percentage of "orbs" do seem to correlate to paranormal activity.  Therefore, we will post orb photos that we feel may be significant, but we do not claim that they are evidence of paranormal activity.

"%#&@...sorry"

"Die"

A disembodied male voice was recorded in the dining room. This was not caused by anyone present. (Warning: course language).   As Mark and Jennifer enter the attic, Mark clears his throat which is immediately followed by a harsh male whisper saying, "Die".

"Johnny Did"

"Doug"

Mark attempts to use a device known as a "Frank's Box" in the main dining room. This device scans radio frequencies at a high rate of speed, and is thought to help make it easy for spirits to verbally communicate. Mark asks the question "Who killed your sister, Roy?" After a moment a man's voice eminates from the Frank's Box saying "Johnny did." This appears to be a direct answer to the question.

While continuing to use the Frank's Box in the main dining room, Mark asks, "Can you please tell me your name?" This is immediately followed by a man's voice saying, "Doug." It is known that after Roy Vail committed suicide a Doug was living in the house for a year before it became a restaurant. That Doug passed away a few years ago.

"Mark"

Female Voice

Still during the Frank's Box session, Mark asks if anyone can prove they are there. After a long pause a female voice appears to say his name.

As Mark conducts an EVP session in the private dining room, a young female voice can be heard saying something unintelligible.

Squeak

"Help"

Mike asks if Emily, Roy Vail's sister, is present. An unidentified squeaking sound is heard.   While in the attic Jennifer hears a man's voice asking for help.

Female Voice

"Run"

As Mike and Ed are talking a female voice whispers underneath their conversation.   As Mike comments about wasps, a voice whispers "Run".

Humming

Mike and Ed hear a faint female voice humming.

Video Evidence

(Click thumbnails to view video clips)

A camera in the attic captures what sounds like an old-fashioned telephone ringing. There are no telephones in the attic, and none in the house with this kind of ringer.

The same camera in the attic recorded a disembodied sigh.

In the main dining room a camera captures an "orb" that flies away from the camera towards the ceiling, then appears to circle around and split in two before flying out of the shot. This has been determined not to be be dust or an insect.
